The Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS) of the National Retail Federation was established in 1993 to enable the rapid implementation of technology within the retail industry by developing standards to ease integration of software applications and hardware devices.

ARTS offers testing services to verify that applications accurately incorporate its standards. Vendors can be tested for conformance to the standard Data Model and/or ARTS XML standard XML schemas.
