Wren Names LP Expert Eric White Director Of Retail Strategy

August 27, 2009

Wren®, a provider of enterprise surveillance and security solutions since 1983, today named Eric White as director of retail strategy. White, who previously served in loss prevention (LP) and security roles at Wal-Mart® and The Home Depot®, brings 20 years of experience in loss prevention, asset protection and physical security.

A recognized expert in retail loss prevention, global retail asset protection, executive protection and corporate security, White is responsible for driving Wren's strategic retail initiatives including market analysis, business and product development, and customer advisory services.

White's LPXtra Blog to Become ‘Center of Excellence' for Retail Executives

White will also serve as the chief blogger of LPXtra, Wren's blog where retail professionals turn for information that's discussed in a practical, applicable context. White plans to expand LPXtra into an interactive forum, incorporating popular social media tools, for knowledge sharing among retailers, specifically those responsible for operations and loss prevention. As White shares in his premiere post, "Power to the LP People!" his vision for the blog is to engage executives and immerse them in the middle of what promises to be a direct and meaningful exchange of information, while cutting through the corporate speak and agendas and getting right to what matters.

"After serving in various retail security and law enforcement roles, the time was right to join Wren and contribute to the industry at a different level," said White. "I look forward to building on Wren's accomplishments in retail and having the opportunity to shape and define solutions that will help retailers achieve operational efficiencies and protect already thin margins."

White's Career Highlights Include Asset Protection at Wal-Mart, The Home Depot

White originally joined Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. as an In-Store Loss Prevention Associate and was promoted seven times during his 17-year career with the retail giant. Ultimately serving as director of global readiness and integration and new market asset protection, he developed enterprise-wide programs to protect the corporate brand, people, and physical assets and to bring industry best practices into new markets around the world.

From there, White went on to serve as division director of asset protection at The Home Depot where he was responsible for profit protection, shrink reduction, facility safety, crime prevention and response, and environmental and regulatory compliance for 800 stores under his direct leadership.

"Having spent the last 20 years at the helm of loss and asset protection for the world's largest retailers, Eric's expertise, leadership and passion for the LP profession is unique," said Andrew Wren, president of Wren. "He brings an extraordinary real-world perspective that we're confident will benefit our customers."

In addition to his work in the corporate arena, White has also been active in the law enforcement community, serving as a commissioned police officer in the State of Arkansas for almost 10 years, achieving the position of Major over Operations. In 2007, White was honored with the appointment of Diplomate status by the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security (ABCHS) for his innovative work and leadership in the Private Sector and currently serves on the board of directors and as a Faculty Instructor for ABCHS. White is also an adjunct professor for the Institute for Corporate and Public Safety.

White holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminology from the Northern Illinois University and a Graduate Certificate in International Security Management from Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies.
