Merchant Risk Council Hires New Program And Education Managers

The Merchant Risk Council (MRC), a merchant-led trade association focused on electronic commerce risk and payments globally, is pleased to announce the staffing additions of Paul MacKay as the MRC's new Program Manager, and Liz Sundquist as the MRC's new Education Manager.

Paul MacKay will be leading several MRC benchmarking and advocacy initiatives in the areas of electronic payments and online data security in both the United States and Europe, and will be working on expanding the MRC's expertise in helping retailers manage their fraud prevention efforts. Paul also takes leadership of the MRC Payments Committee as well as the MRC Merchant/Issuer Forum.

Paul comes to the MRC with over 30 years of retail operations experience – including 18 with Nike. Paul pioneered fraud management practices for Nike.com with efforts culminating in best-of-class fraud practices and a ‘Center of Excellence' model to support U.S., Europe and China operations.

Liz Sundquist will be leading MRC efforts in developing content for MRC events, creating new training and certification programs, as well as creating a comprehensive curriculum that forward's the MRC vision of a safer and more profitable e-Commerce environment. Liz also oversees the MRC's Education and Conference Committees.

Liz is a licensed attorney and is currently a member of both the Wisconsin and Washington State Bar Associations. Liz's professional career also includes more than ten years of training and instructional design positions in the software and insurance industries. Upon her arrival in Seattle, she worked with the Washington State Bar Association to develop their new lawyer education curriculum and other continuing legal education courses.

Both Paul and Liz join the MRC team to help lead the organization's expanding educational content for Fraud Risk, Security Risk and Electronic Payments issues. Since its inception in 2001, the MRC has facilitated on-line merchants in collaborating and sharing information in order to prevent fraud. Today, the MRC not only serves the rapidly changing needs of e-Commerce and multi-channel merchants, but is working on educating all participants of the electronic payments ecosystem, including: payment processors, law enforcement agencies, risk management solution providers, alternative payment providers and card issuers, as well as all the major payment card brands.

Throughout 2010 and beyond, the MRC will provide retailers and industry stakeholders with a wide range of new payments and security-related educational opportunities, trainings and papers. These include special conference sessions, hosted webinars, regulatory change updates, industry-related benchmarking studies, reports on alternative payment strategy trends, as well as security and fraud prevention certification programs. Both Paul and Liz will be key leaders in all future MRC conferences and events.
