The Limited Completes Nationwide Rollout Of Torex Retail POS
January 27, 2010
Torex Retail Holdings Ltd (Torex), the leading global provider of innovative, integrated technology solutions to the extended retail marketplace, announces that it has successfully deployed Torex Retail POS across The Limited's national network of women's speciality stores, in its largest US deal to date. The multi million dollar contract includes the rollout of Torex Retail POS software on 750 IBM touch-screen terminals across 228 locations, and a fixed cost maintenance contract over five years.
Following the part-purchase of The Limited Stores by investment group Sun Capital, the retailer wanted to streamline its operations. As a result of the Torex implementation, The Limited has achieved a key savings objective of reducing its POS population by 20-25%.
Importantly, the retailer has also gained debit card functionality and more productive and flexible promotions capabilities – which will enable it to devise and execute more creative promotions to boost sales and secure customer loyalty.
Torex beat four competitors to secure the deal. The Limited was impressed that Torex could provide the complete solution - from POS software, hardware and middleware, to maintenance, services, support and custom development.
Other key attractions of the Torex solution included the strength of the Torex Enterprise Manager head office management module, which was easily integrated with The Limited's incumbent Island Pacific application; as well as the comprehensive functionality of Retail POS and its ‘94% fit' out-of-the-box with the ARTS' (Association for Retail Technology Standards') latest Standard RFP (Requests for Proposal), which meant it needed minimal modifications during the installation process.
The retailer liked the openness of the solution which gave it the flexibility to choose the best-of-breed hardware to match its specific requirements. It also appreciated the added benefit of reduced user training costs due to the intuitiveness of the Torex solution.
Roger Coville, CIO at The Limited, said, ‘Our selection of Torex Retail POS was weighted heavily by the superior scores on our ARTS based RFP process. No POS roll-out is flawless, but we had our pilot running in five months and the whole chain updated in fourteen with very few distractions to running the business.'
Jim Handy, President International, Torex, said, ‘We are very proud to announce this deal. It is an important one for Torex as it demonstrates that the larger retailers have confidence not only in our solutions but in our people and our vision.'
