Walmart Canada Switches To Variable Shipping Fees4/22/2015
Walmart Canada customers will now have to make a $50 minimum purchase on the retailer's website in order to receive free shipping to their homes. The change began earlier this month, after Wal-Mart Stores Inc. cited rising Canadian postage costs as the reason for the switch. The announcement came on their website. For orders under $50, customers will now be required to pay the optional $4.97 per order to have their purchase delivered to their door. As an alternative, Walmart Canada offers two other shipping options, with shipping to any over 5,000 Canada Post locations or a “Grab & Go” locker at a nearby Walmart store.

Already retailers such as Target are using interactive in-store mapping, and mall developer Simon has formed a partnership with eBay to develop “the connected mall” to help customers navigate mall layouts.

Amazon has made several big steps in consumer retail lately, such as testing same-day shipping, integrating a wish list function with Twitter, and now the retailer is tackling a brick and mortar store. On October 9, The Wall Street Journal reported that the e-commerce giant would be launching a new store in New York City.
