Retailers are implementing some iteration of employee background screening. Why is employee theft the number one source of retail shrink?

Langford: This question suggests the sole purpose of background screening is to reduce employee theft. I will offer that many retailers realize it is important to incorporate various background screening tools to provide a safe and secure place to work and shop. Additionally, they recognize that quality background checks provide important due diligence toward the goal of eliminating potential workplace violence situations.
