We don't know if the economy is headed up or down. However, cash management is at the center of operational success, and failing to adopt a secure, efficient approach to cash management can pose a real stumbling block to business growth in any economic situation. Retailers perform three basic tasks with regards to cash:

• Receive and account for cash at the point of sale
• Manage cash in the store
• Deposit cash in the bank
