There are many factors that influence how and what shoppers buy, and visual cues within the store play a strategic role in merchandise selection. The use of color in coupons, displays, signage and other in store merchandising is a proven sales booster, driving significantly higher sales than identical materials produced in black and white format.

For example, 85% of shoppers cite that color used in promotional materials attracted their attention, thus becoming the primary reason they ultimately purchased a particular product. As consumers are bombarded with more marketing messages in more complex formats than ever before, up to 5,000 per day according to the NY Times, retailers continue to explore more effective ways to attract customers to specific merchandise to increase the probability of in store purchases.
