All too often retailers can't keep up with the costly and error-prone task of updating item prices. The results: overcharging and unhappy customers. In addition, retailers are concerned about how to meet new legislative requirements for up-to-date item pricing. With constantly changing prices and a huge inventory, OfficeMax wanted an automated price verification system that would build customers' trust and comply with recent state item pricing regulation.

OfficeMax worked with software solutions provider Direct Source and hardware provider UniComp to create a highly reliable and easy-touse price verification system. Direct Source integrated OfficeMax's pricing data into their price checker software application and developed a custom interface that enabled the application to work seamlessly with the UniComp PCT2 selfservice terminal and integrated Epson TM-L90 POS/label printer.

UniComp's PCT2 terminal was selected for its large screen, small footprint and ease-of-use features for customers. With its integrated Epson TM-L90 label printer, which automatically peels off the backing of the label for customers, it was the ideal solution for OfficeMax's self-service price checker system.
