A Business Case For Size And Pack Optimization

Source: ITR Software

Retailers that effectively manage size can generate better margins on the same investment. Effective management requires combining analysis with execution to reduce markdowns, transfers and improve the level of customer service. The Buyer’s WorkMate® (BWM) software suite addresses merchandise sizing during the retail analysis, planning and purchasing stages.  Within BWM, size analysis is not just a discovery process but instead, through integrated features, it facilitates action producing results.

Background

The BWM suite of software applications addresses Business Intelligence (SPIN®), Merchandise, Store and Assortment Planning, Demand Forecasting, Purchasing and Allocation stages of the retail cycle. Although all of these applications can operate independently, they do share data enhancing the flow of results from one application to the next.

SPIN enables on-line analysis down to the store-size level.  SPIN provides hierarchical analysis, attribute analysis and cross-dimensional analysis.  SPIN is a very effective tool for general analysis but its true power is its ability to generate size level analysis for use in the BWM Planning, Demand Forecasting and Allocation modules.
