American Public University System Retail Management Program Director Joins Academic Committee For The Loss Prevention Foundation

American Public University System (APUS) recently announced that Retail Management Program Director Kevin Forehand has been named to the academic committee of The Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF).

Forehand’s appointment is part of an expanded partnership between the two organizations that, among other benefits, aligns APUS’s more than 90 fully-online degree programs with LPF’s LPQualified (LPQ) and LPCertified (LPC) certifications.

The LPF academic committee includes university representatives from across the United States and the United Kingdom and provides academic guidance to the organization. Work includes developing strategies on how the foundation can complement higher education, reviewing certification coursework content, and advising LPF staff on outreach to two- and four-year college students.

“Every day, I have the opportunity to work with people who are entering or growing their careers in the retail industry,” said Forehand. “I am pleased to have an opportunity to share my knowledge of the industry with LPF.”

Forehand has 20 years of experience in retail. He had a significant role in loss prevention as an assistant manager with Walmart and, in his subsequent roles with other retailers, he continued to be involved in loss prevention strategies. At APUS, he leads a team of faculty who develop curriculum and work with students in Retail Management associate’s, bachelor’s, and certificate programs.

“We want to make sure we are aligning our educational initiatives with higher education as much as possible,” said LPF President Gene Smith, LPC. “Loss prevention professionals come from many academic areas and it important to us to gain the knowledge of academic leaders to understand the retail industry as well as the needs of today’s students.”
