Employee trust in the workplace is the leading factor for great workplaces

Axis Communications, the global leader in network video surveillance, was named by Great Place to Work as one of the best small and medium workplaces in the United States on their annual 2014 Best Small & Medium Workplaces list, published in FORTUNE magazine. Ranked #16, this is the first time Axis has received this honor. Divided into two categories, Small (25-250 employees) and Medium (251-999 employees), the list has recognized companies with exceptional workplace cultures for the past eleven years.

Competing against hundreds of companies across the country, Axis participated in a rigorous selection process, which included an employee survey and an in-depth questionnaire about benefits programs and company practices. Great Place to Work evaluates each application using its unique methodology based on five dimensions of a great workplace: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

In compiling the list, Great Place to Work has found that employees believe they work for great organizations when they consistently trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do and enjoy the people they work with.

“Not only are we celebrating Axis’ first year on the Best Small & Medium Workplaces list, but also our company’s 30th year in business,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications, Inc. “Our continued success is a direct result of the culture and employees who embody our core values and mission to innovate and enable a smarter, safer world. This recognition is both an honor and humbling, as we remain committed to hiring the right people and fostering a fun and challenging work place environment to support our continued growth.”

Employees at Axis enjoy benefits such as flexible scheduling, training and career development. All employees attend an orientation at corporate headquarters in Lund, Sweden and escape to a desirable location for the annual Kick Off, which includes both workshops and company bonding. As a regional sales organization, North American employees who overachieve on goals are selected as part of the Viking Club and receive special recognition.

"The work of these companies is quite impressive,” said China Gorman, CEO of Great Place to Work. “They provide an example that others can look to, to see what kind of outstanding workplace is possible—regardless of size, industry, or other circumstances. For example, the growth that many of these companies are experiencing is tremendous, and they are paying close attention to culture every step of the way. This focus on a strong cultural foundation will help pave the way for continued success as they serve their employees and their customers.”

Organizations named on the list see many benefits that include better financial performance, less employee turnover, higher levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty, more innovative and creative thinking, higher productivity and enhanced public perception.

Axis has also been named a 2013 “Top Place to Work” by The Boston Globe and a 2013 “Best Place to Work” by the Boston Business Journal. Interested employment candidates can view and apply for open positions online.
