Balancing Mobile Security And Productivity With BYOD Privacy

Though today’s mobile ecosystem is bustling with new features, application and product launches, it is not doing enough to cater to enterprise security and privacy needs. Second to mobile security, mobile privacy is an emerging, sensitive issue for many bring your own device (BYOD) workers. A recent survey conducted by Ars Technica revealed that:

  • 34% of mobile owners are looking for mobile services or features that divide the work and personal space
  • 22% were interested in the mobile feature or service if the costs were absorbed by the company
  • 19% were only interested if the product or service was user-friendly

These percentages indicate that the BYOD user community expects different mobile strategies to be developed by IT that will be account for their personal privacy when using mobile devices. Similar types of demands from BYODers across all industries have made the protection of end user privacy a key deliverable for all BYOD programs.
