When Skechers secured its new 1.8-million-square-foot DC with surveillance cameras, throughput of data from its VMS (video management system) was a top priority.

The Skechers story is one of incredible success. In the crowded casual footwear market, this relatively young brand has blossomed into a $2 billion international powerhouse since its founding 20 years ago. That growth has contributed to its current operation of more than 300 stores and 250 distribution partners spanning 120 countries. For Skechers, shipping shoes is a core function of selling them. Skechers’ distribution initiatives led to the recent opening of a $125 million, 1.8-million-square-foot distribution center (DC) that displaced five old warehouses and now handles international shipping and receiving for the company’s more than 3,000 styles of footwear.

For the company, the new DC is an enabler of efficient international trade. For Skechers Director of Loss Prevention Greg Drivas, it’s 1.8 million square feet of space that must be tightly secured.
