April 2013 Integrated Solutions For Retailers

The mobile accessory franchise is upgrading to a mobile POS to keep up with its mobile customers.

When you are a company that sells accessories for mobile devices, does it really make sense to keep your employees tethered to a cash register? Cellairis CIO Harbor Hall doesn’t believe so, which is why he is pushing to have mobile POS rolled out to over 600 locations by the end of this year.

Cellairis, founded in 2000 in Atlanta by two college friends, operates over 600 locations in the U.S. and Canada, with the vast majority of them being franchises. The company operates carts, kiosks, and recently launched full-size in-line stores. With the company exclusively offering mobile accessories, it always bugged franchisees that they had to take customers away from the products to a fixed, permanent cashwrap to ring them out. “Our franchisees prefer to be on the floor with the customer, letting them touch and try out the products on their phones. They wanted to be able to show the customer the product and close the sale right there on the floor,” Hall comments. Hall reached out to Cellairis’ POS provider at the time, Radiant, several years ago and was unable to find what he needed. However, with NCR having purchased Radiant and technology rapidly advancing, a new solution soon became available, NCR Silver.
