Evolving HCM Solutions And Opportunities For Retailers
December 2012 Integrated Solutions For Retailers
By John Orr, chief strategy officer, Ceridian Dayforce
Human capital management (HCM) solutions offer retailers the unique ability to increase productivity and customer service at the same time.
Results from the Integrated Solutions for Retailers annual technology survey highlight that 26.3% of respondents will invest in workforce management (WFM) in 2013, up from 22.6% in 2012. While this represents a slight increase, it may highlight a missed opportunity for retailers. WFM, with the rich data it delivers, is one of the fastest-growing human capital (HC) technology investments being made today in the HC marketplace. Integrated workforce planning and labor scheduling saves time for employees and management, cuts costs, and aligns employee performance with business goals. However, when retail managers spend time and energy on managing payroll, employee time and attendance, scheduling, compliance risks, and other critical HR activities, it prevents them from focusing on their core business — reducing labor costs, boosting productivity, increasing sales, and improving customer service.
