On July 14, Home Depot and MakerBot, global leader in 3D printing industry, announced a partnership, introducing innovative, high-quality 3D printers to the DYI retail environment.

Home Depot is supplying 12 stores in California, Illinois, and New York with 3D printers and engaging kiosks, all of which locations will serve as a pilot program for the two companies. Customers will have the opportunity to participate in the interactive 3D demonstrations, with trained MakerBot staff on-hand to offer purchasing guidance and easy-to-follow instructions as they create a 3D sample project.

With 3D printing, Home Depot customers, including contractors, builders, architects, landscapers, interior designers, and general customers can now experience a whole new level of convenience and efficiency the advanced printing systems offer—MakerBot 3D printing technology produces fast, low-cost prototypes, replacement parts, architectural designs, art structures, and more. “Every day we see the magic of 3D printing becoming a reality with our customers; now The Home Depot can also see that magic. We can’t wait to see what The Home Depot customers make with our products,” said Bre Pettis, CEO of MakerBot.

MakerBot, leader in 3D printers, with retail stores in New York, Boston, and Greenwich, Connecticut, has issued out over 50,000 MakerBot 3D printers worldwide. MakerBot differs from other 3D printing companies as it offers a complete MakerBot 3D Ecosystem that is user-friendly for everyone. Its website is the world’s largest 3D site for finding, developing, and sharing customized 3D projects—customers can also visit the site’s social media channels for even more connections. MakerBot provides all software, apps, and training services for simplifying the set-up process of the top-of-the-line printers and scanners. Home Depot customers can find the MakerBot Replicator Desktop 3D printer (5th Generation technology), featuring cutting-edge features, cloud and app powered, designed to build large models, for $2,899. The MakerBot Replicator Mini Compact 3D printer priced at $1,375, a durable, reliable printer for smaller tasks, presenting users with hundreds of thousands of free designs and ready-to-print educational, entertaining 3D models to choose from—both obtainable in-store and at online. The MakerBot Digitizer Desktop 3D scanner available online for $799.00, produces 3D models in minutes with just two clicks, built to work seamlessly with MakerBot replicator 3D printers. When purchased on The Home Depot webpage, the 3 devices qualify for The Home Depot’s free ship to store or home service.

“We are continually looking to bring the latest innovation to our customers and are excited to offer MakerBot 3D Printing products in select stores and on homedepot.com. MakerBot 3D printers are yet another great technology that can serve particular needs of specific customers,” said Joe Downey, Merchant, The Home Depot.
