As ultraspecialty sporting goods stores go, Pure Hockey is in a league of its own. The company launched back in 1994 with a small brick-and-mortar Pure Hockey store in Worcester, MA. It was acquired in 2008 by a company that also owned specialty sporting goods retailer Commonwealth Lacrosse (Comlax). Today, the company operates these two banners and a third — Pure Goalie — in more than 20 stores across the Northeast. Its reach is furthered by a growing e-commerce presence.
