For example, HughesON Performance Optimization™ employs new Hughes ActiveQoS™ technology to connect all locations with end-to-end application prioritization, guaranteeing that critical apps get through—even in the presence of lower-priority data competing for bandwidth. This method of adding end-to-end QoS (Quality of Service) over affordable broadband networks, such as DSL and cable, is far more economical than traditional MPLS networks with T1 or Ethernet access. As with all of Hughes intelligent network technologies, ActiveQoS is “built-in” to the Hughes broadband network and CPE so there is no need for expensive branch appliances.
In addition to providing robust application priority over “best-efforts” broadband, Hughes ActiveCompression™ technology enables more “virtual bandwidth” or throughput to each of your branch locations. ActiveCompression uses both long- and short-range compression algorithms to ensure the best compression gain based upon branch traffic. As a result, link capacity gains of up to 50x can be attained, depending upon branch traffic, without needing expensive branch link capacity upgrades or hard-to-manage branch appliances.

Available nationwide, Hughes High-Availability Networking™ is a turnkey offering to cost-effectively augment a primary network with a truly diverse, high-speed backup using any combination of DSL, 3G/4G wireless, and broadband satellite technologies. By employing alternate path, totally diverse links, maximum network resilience is ensured—even when disaster strikes. When an outage does occur, the primary network automatically fails over to the backup, keeping your business or government agency on-line to serve customers or the public in need. Upon restoral of the primary link, Hughes High-Availability Networking reconnects to it.
Backup links can also double as part of a load-balancing configuration in which both broadband links are active, with the best link chosen depending upon the application in order to improve overall performance. In addition to guarding against branch link failure, many customers rely on Hughes for a managed secondary network supporting “hard-to-size” and predict guest WiFi traffic; “split-tunneling” configurations ensure there is no adverse impact to their primary network.
