ICA To Test Online Shopping In Östergötland

(GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Four ICA stores in Östergötland will be the first in Sweden to test ICA’s online shopping solution. Several ICA stores already offer online shopping, but this is the first time customers will be able to test ICA’s own online platform. The four pilot stores are ICA Nära Boxholm, ICA Nära Fornåsa, ICA Nära Tjällmo and ICA Supermarket Åtvidaberg.

“We have developed an online shopping solution which is simple and inspirational. But we cannot develop it further without help from customers and ICA retailers. We have long experience of developing business together with our customers in Östergötland, among other things we tested the ICA Card and Personal Offers here,” says Anders Svensson, CEO of ICA Sweden.

The online shopping experience offered by the stores will vary depending on the store’s product range and the ICA retailers themselves will choose whether to offer home delivery or in-store collection. Collection in-store has been a success in several international markets.

Items are picked in the store which means that existing premises and personnel can be used. Just as in all ICA stores, the retailer sets the price to the consumer, so the prices of the products and online services will vary.

Over the next few months the platform will be developed together with customers and retailers. New functionality will be added successively and during next year more retailers will have the opportunity to connect.
