Nordstrom Supports International Expansion With Upgrade To Oracle Retail Merchandising Systems

Retailer’s implementation establishes foundation for sustainable growth across Nordstrom full line and Rack stores in North America

Leading fashion specialty retailer Nordstrom has implemented new Oracle Retail Merchandise Operations Management and Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management solutions to support its expansion in Canada. The retailer plans to roll out the latest releases of these Oracle Retail solutions companywide to support its Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores.

Nordstrom completed the Oracle implementation on schedule for the September 2014 opening of its two-story, 140,000-square-foot store at the Chinook Centre shopping mall in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The retailer deployed an integrated suite of applications to support its core merchandising, pricing, and store inventory operations including Oracle Retail Merchandising System, Oracle Retail Price Management, Oracle Retail Trade Management, and Oracle Retail Invoice Matching.

“Oracle is a valued partner to our business,” said Bill Tucker, vice president of Technology, Nordstrom. “Oracle’s retail industry solutions help to ensure that our technology investment evolves with our business to support our growth strategy and help us meet the changing expectations of our customers.”

A long-time Oracle customer, Nordstrom has been recognized throughout the retail industry and investment community as a pioneer. Using technology in its stores and online, Nordstrom delivers a highly relevant and personalized experience that enables its customers to shop on their terms. Moving to the next-generation Oracle Retail Merchandise Operations Management suite of solutions, and doing so with an approach that retains the applications’ latest features and functionality without custom code changes, enables Nordstrom to establish an upgrade path that lowers total cost of ownership across its IT systems.

“By rolling the new Oracle Retail solutions out in conjunction with the Canada expansion, we are able to fully evaluate and understand the new features and functionality before impacting our remaining store operations,” said Tucker. “As we put the Oracle solutions in place across the business, we are positioned to take immediate advantage of new features, performance, and functionality enhancements in Oracle Retail 14.1.”

“Nordstrom is a valued customer and we appreciate the opportunity to support the company as it continues its growth path and serves customers in new markets,” said Jill Puleri, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Retail. “Oracle is committed to continuing to provide retailers with the latest solutions to enable delivery of the commerce anywhere strategies that engage global consumers. By putting in place the next-generation Oracle Retail solutions, Nordstrom captures the best practices and rich retail functionality inherent in these applications while benefiting from our ongoing investment in new upgrades and technology enhancements.”
