OAK Opens New Stores In Tokyo, Los Angeles And Paris

Brooklyn-based clothing retailer sets sights on expansion

Tokyo /PRNewswire/ -- A decade into its run as an influential force on the New York fashion scene, clothing retailer and lifestyle brand OAK will open its first location in the Japanese market in Tokyo's Shibuya district. Located at 1-23-253F Shibuya, the store will offer the retailer's namesake OAK Collection and A.OK brands as well as a curated selection of shoes and accessories for men and women.

The Brooklyn-based company, which was acquired as a division of vertically integrated clothing manufacturer American Apparel (Amex: APP) in the summer of 2013, also recently opened its first stores outside of New York in Paris, France and downtown Los Angeles and plans to open a second LA location on Beverly Boulevard in the coming weeks. These new stores, utilizing American Apparel's logistics and resources, accompany OAK's longstanding Manhattan and Brooklyn locations and a fully realized e-commerce website (oaknyc.com).

"OAK is a New York brand, started in Brooklyn. We will always be New Yorkers but as New Yorkers we love to travel and meet new people, learn new things and new ways to do things – that's why we're so excited to be able to open up shop in fashion capitols like these," said OAK co-founder Louis Terline of the new store openings.

The 700-square-foot Tokyo store sits atop of American Apparel's Shibuya women's boutique and boasts a panoramic vista with a city view of the Japanese metropolis. Like its Manhattan, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and Paris counterparts, the Shibuya location will have its own unique personality, drawing influence from the rich history, culture, and architecture of Tokyo.
