Personalization: The Next Big Thing In Mobile Apps

Mobile traffic is up more than 70 percent year over year. Users spend 80 percent of their time online on mobile devices using native apps. And eMarketer predicts that retail mobile commerce sales will reach nearly $42 billion in 2013, and will exceed $110 billion by 2017
Yet in many critical ways, the mobile experience is falling behind.
In reference to the retail industry, Nikki Baird, an analyst with Retail Systems Research, had this to say about mobile apps.
"Retailers either don't have them at all, or what they do have is barely on par with the mobile site which is just a pale reflection of the full eCommerce site."
Despite the amount of money companies have invested in mobile, few organizations have adopted the strategies necessary to make the channel successful. While best practices have grown and evolved in website marketing, companies are still not prioritizing many of the same proven techniques in mobile app development.
