A summer study by Gatepoint Research commissioned by RedPrairie, revealed some serious concerns around product recall inadequacies in the retail and life sciences supply chains. Despite findings that more than half of the 129 enterprises surveyed are concerned about their ability to isolate items within their own supply chains and that 70% say coordinating recall issues with suppliers and distributors keeps them up at night, fewer than 20% have actually deployed traceability technology solutions. Less than half of surveyed executives expressed confidence in their ability to execute a product recall within hours.

Retailers Apprehend Over 1 Million Thieves
The 23rd annual retail theft survey by Jack L. Hayes International reports that shoplifters and dishonest employees stole over $7 billion from 23 major U.S. retailers in 2010. These 23 surveyed retailers also apprehended over one million shoplifters and dishonest employees and recovered more than $148 million from them.
