There we were, with our heads turned toward the climaxing threat of Iranian nuclear development and the menacing rockets being launched by those saber-rattling North Koreans, when China allegedly snuck in through the T1 line and started messing with the digital data repositories of more than 140 U.S. businesses and government agencies.

Those hackers stole data on pricing, contract negotiations, manufacturing, product testing, and corporate acquisitions from a broad cross section of American industry

In the weeks since the media broke into an all-out China-bashing frenzy as a result of the news, leaders in IT security circles have quietly pointed out that attacks like these are constant, and that they target businesses like yours from every direction — the PLA (People’s Liberation Army) in China, rogue hacktivists in Russia, a bored IT student in Oregon.
