While retailers expand channels, they also must balance competitiveness with security.
As retailers focus on asset protection and loss prevention, the spending trends are aligning with the need to control the theft of both product and information assets, specifically personally identifiable information (PII). Retailers are spending on protecting the bottom line, and they are looking to innovate and make the customer experience a priority. Spending trends show their focus on physical security (video surveillance) and the continued focus on mobile and payment security. As I see these results, they reinforce the concepts of the focus on risk management, making security relevant to practical views, and prioritizing retail spending from an operational risk perspective.
