One of the more interesting sessions I attended at Manhattan’s Momentum conference a couple of months back had less to do with supply chain technology than it did with supply chain people. That problem is the rapidly declining access that carriers and third-party logistics providers have to qualified drivers. The implications of the driver shortage are hitting retailers, who need to play a proactive role in the crisis to ensure they maintain the freight capacity necessary to keep shelves stocked.
