Saples Apple Pay Launch

After announcing its launch back in September, Staples is now incorporating Apple Pay into their recently reinvented Staples App—allowing iPhone 6 and 6 Plus customers to safely and simply make purchases at the convenience of their fingertips. Apple Pay will soon be available for in-store shoppers to use at Staples locations throughout the U.S within the next few weeks.

Apple Pay enables customers to make transactions while safeguarding their personal data. When users enter a credit or debit card to use for Apple Pay, personal card information is never stored on the iPhone 6 device or on any Apple servers—instead, a specially-assigned encrypted code is safely stored in the iPhone cloud letting customers checkout without ever having to share card details, such as the three-digit security code found on the reverse side of card.

“Innovations like these will help customers quickly find and pay for the products they need to make more happen. Apple Pay is the key feature of our updated iPhone app, and is another example of how we’re making it easier for consumers and small businesses to shop and check-out whenever and however they want,” said Faisal Masud, executive vice president of global e-commerce, Staples, Inc.

Staples is joining major retailers including Target, Macy’s, Walgreens, Disney stores, Petco, Nike, RadioShack Bloomingdales, Duane Reade, Whole Foods, and restaurants including Panera Bread, McDonald’s and Subway—all utilizing Apple Pay to give customers peace of mind when they shop in their brick-and-mortar locations and online. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated regarding the rollout to over 220,000 retailers nationwide, “"We think it is going to be profound. It's going to change the way we pay for things.”

Along with the integration with Apple Pay, Staples added new features to enhance the Staples App—customers can anticipate a seamless mobile shopping experience as the redesigned app includes simple navigation tools, fast search results with filtering by category, cost, and relevance, easy checkout process, management of Staples Rewards, ability to scope out savings on the new Staples Weekly Ad page, and a store locator with a complete view of store inventory.
