Our Vector Security experts have identified several technology-based trends that are becoming popular among retailers in their ongoing effort to reduce shrink and prevent loss.

One trend we see is the integration of video with point-of-sale (POS) data to investigate losses stemming from internal theft. Research shows that approximately half of all shrink comes from internal activities such as “sweethearting” and “collusion.” Of that 50%, one-third to one-half occurs at the point-of-sale. POS is where it happens and POS coupled with video analytics is where loss prevention investigators are turning their attention.
