The Evolution Of Shoe Gallery's E-Commerce

Customized, integrated E-Commerce platform propels Shoe Gallery's growth into a national brand.

C&W Shoes (d.b.a. Shoe Gallery) tiptoed into the world of footwear retail in 1992 with two brick and mortar locations based in Georgia. From its beginnings in The Peach State, Shoe Gallery has carved out a regional stronghold in the southeast, with satellite stores in Mississippi and Oklahoma. Will Brooks, CFO of C&W Shoes, recalls when the footwear retailer’s technology was more limited.

With its previous software suite, employees could only search the inventory, which contains more than 200 different brands, using two different search criteria--style and color. After researching several new POS systems, Shoe Gallery deployed Celerant Technology's Command Retail in 2006, which included 20 open field options. The simple addition of 18 search fields allowed Shoe Gallery to tighten the grip on its massive inventory.

“Having an inventory database that could deliver a huge amount of information quickly and with critical detail was a major change for us,” says Brooks.
