The Retail Equation Names John Herr, Former CEO Of Adaptive Insights, To Board Of Directors

Expert in Big Data Analytics and Global Expansion to be Key Driver of Company’s Continued Growth

The Retail Equation, the industry leader in retail transaction optimization solutions, recently announced it has named John Herr to its board of directors. Herr is an expert in consumer Internet, e-commerce, big data and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and has extensive experience with global expansion and operational efficiency. He has a strong track record of scaling Internet businesses into large enterprises and has served in leadership roles at eBay, PayPal, Buy.com, Johnson & Johnson and more. Most recently, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Adaptive Insights (AI), the market leader in cloud-based Corporate Performance Management (CPM) for middle-market companies.

In his most recent role as CEO of AI, he led the company on an aggressive growth path, which resulted in it receiving the Deloitte Fast 500 Award, recognizing Adaptive Insights as one of the fastest-growing technology companies. AI offers a SaaS platform that allows finance and management teams to automate and improve corporate budgeting, forecasting, analysis and scenario planning. Prior to AI, Herr was an Executive in Residence at Norwest Venture Partners (NVP) in Palo Alto, Calif., where he nurtured early-stage companies and helped to guide growth-stage companies. Before NVP, he spent six years as vice president and general manager for eBay managing divisions across the eBay, PayPal and International businesses. During his time there, revenue grew 15 times, from $400M to $6B, employees increased from a few hundred to 15,000 and eBay acquired PayPal.

Herr is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and was a recipient of the “40 under 40” for the top 40 consumer electronics executives under 40. He serves as a board member for Clarus Marketing Group, an e-commerce membership company serving multi-channel/e-commerce retailers, and a former board member of 1010data, a cloud-based big transaction data analytics company with a strong retail presence.
