Veterans To Receive Financial Assistance From VA For LPQ & LPC

The Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF) has received approval from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for reimbursement for the LPQ and LPC exams for all veterans. This is a significant step for The Loss Prevention Foundation in helping to create retail job opportunities for veterans by making the LPQ and LPC certification courses more accessible for all veterans.

A key focus area for the LPF and its Military Transition Committee is a commitment to the professional advancement and assistance of veterans and soon to be separated active duty military personnel. Retailers have had tremendous success in hiring veterans and continue to hire many more specifically for the loss prevention field. The LPF certifications are tools to educate and professionally advance industry veterans and veterans re-entering civilian employment. “Retail Loss Prevention has a tremendous need for knowledgeable talent and an industry specific course such as the LPQ really helps the veteran understand the business, makes them more marketable as a candidate, prepares them for the interview and assists them greatly in their transition into the private sector. For veterans already in loss prevention, the LPC is a tremendous tool in assisting them in advancing their career.” said Gene Smith, LPC, president of The Loss Prevention Foundation.

“Remembering my transition back to civilian status after serving, I can say I that I know first-hand some of what our men and women in uniform are facing as they attempt to find normalcy in their lives back home. The Loss Prevention Foundations Military Transition Committee is committed to ensuring our heroes know they have the support they need and a career opportunity that will utilize the extremely valuable knowledge, skills and abilities they earned while serving whereby creating the opportunity for a rewarding career in Loss Prevention,” said John Clark, Director, Corporate Asset Protection for Sports Authority and Chairman of LPF’s Military Transition Committee. “All of the members of the Loss Prevention Foundation and our Industry know this [approval for VA Funding] has been a challenging process and a long time coming. The fact that today we can announce that the Veterans Administration has recognized the Loss Prevention Foundation and the industry designations of LPQ and LPC shows us what can happen when a team of dedicated professionals can accomplish when we come together as one and remain focused on our goal.”

“As a Naval Academy graduate and veteran, I am acutely aware of what a trying time it can be to assimilate into the civilian workforce. The VA Funding available for the Loss Prevention Foundation certification exams is a path to help secure employment in the retail loss prevention profession. Fortune 500 Corporations put a premium on the LPQ and LPC designation which streamlines employment opportunities,” said Kevin Lynch, LPC, former Navy Academy graduate and member of LPF’s Military Transition Committee.
